In the night from Saturday January 27th to Sunday January 28th I was the guest of Mr. Rene Stremme of Dura Vermeer Railinfra BV and his teams of 'track-welders'. While at work reconstructing the tracks around the Central Station of Hilversum, The Netherlands, they demonstrated a new track-welding technique. A re-useable, but heavy and clumsy 'welding-pot' is replaced by an almost 2/3th lighter disposable 'welding-tincan', that handles much easier and is only a fraction more expensive per 'track-weld'. The disposable tincan double-functions as a waist-deposit bucket, for which again the backs of the welders say 'thank you'.
I have tried to shoot this 'reportage-style'and included all the actions of the welding-process, as far as time permitted.
I would like to give a big 'Thank You' to all my 'victims' for their hospitality and patient explanations. Much appreciated!
