Abbotts Lagoon

Intricate patterns of gray weave an overcast sky. Thick fog hovers above the wild ocean and embraces the rolling emerald hills near Abbotts Lagoon. It is one of the final outposts of the park, located about 15 miles north of the Point Reyes National Seashore's Bear Valley Visitor Center, before the narrowing land ends at the mouth of Tomales Bay,located north of San Francisco.
Nestled among the hills, Abbotts Lagoon is an excellent choice for a day of discovery. A two-mile trail rambles toward the ocean, passing two freshwater ponds, green cattle pastures and endless rolling dunes. The trail winds around a 200-acre brackish lagoon and ends at the Great Beach of Point Reyes.
