The horses are worked out during the auction to let perspective buyers look each horse over for confirmation and to study how well they move. There are often many horses and carts out at the same time giving the scene a race like feel. They are run full speed on a makeshift track and on this particular day, a rider flipped his cart during a sharp turn. The rider was thrown to the ground and the uncontrolled horse and cart took off full speed in an erratic run around the auction building. The crowd scattered scrambling for safety, while the horse and cart careened crazily in an unpredictable flight. Finally after a few terrifying minuets the horse was stopped by onlookers. It was very fortunate that the rider, horse, or any spectators were not injured in the mêlée. As for me I didn’t know I could still climb a horse trailer that fast.
