To me, heaven is spending a day visiting and photographing at an Amish farm. I spent a recent afternoon watching the processing of corn stalks into feed. That’s what’s happening in the upper left of the picture. There were four teams of horses and mules used to retrieve the cut corn and bring it in to be shredded. Three horse teams were used move the corn stalks to the corn shredder, and a mule team is used to pull a weighted roller to pack the processed corn down. In this photo that is what the team of mules is doing. A group of Amish children came to watch the men at work. Hanging in the shed behind the mule team is part of the tobacco crop hanging upside down to dry. I will post some of my recent photos of the Amish fall harvest over the next few days. I feel privileged to be allowed to visit and to take photographs of these amazing hard working people.
