This gallery show just how much 'magic' occurs after a photograph is taken, on the computers (our modern day darkroom)! It is a subjective decision the photographer makes when working on a photograph, just how much retouching, what special effects, if any, to add, and what border to choose, that will really make a photo special.
The first group of image (1-22) show each image in it's original form, then the image after some retouching and perhaps having a special effect applied, and then a border placed around the image.
The second group of photos (22-42) show the various borders I am currently offering. All borders can be reproduced in either black or white. Generally, I like to use white borders around either dark, or color images. And black borders around b&w photos, or lighter images.
The third group of photos (43-100) demonstrate the level of retouching I provide, at no extra cost. The difference can sometimes be dramatic in digital photography. Even professional digital equipment, in the best of circumstances, will usually produce images that need some refinement.
I have always enjoyed bringing a level of sophistication to all of my photos, whether hand printing in my darkroom, or during the hours I spend on my computers today. From the intial capture of each image, to the retouching, special artistic effects, to the final overlay of a border, each layer of adjustment, when done carefully and artistically, can really transform a good photograph into a beautiful photograph.
I am sharing these techniques and final touches, to help involve my clients in the creative process. Feel free to browse the gallery, and if you'd like for me to apply any of these effects to your photographs, just email me the number of the special effect and/or border you like, and I'll be happy to apply it to your selected photos, at no extra cost.
