I love photographing babies! It's how I started out in this business.

However, this shoot was extra special, as I photographed the parent's wedding last spring. (I love being asked document the birth of a new family, from engagement photos, the wedding, pregnancy photos to newborn shoots!)

Tina and Bob had a beautiful baby girl this spring, and we did this shoot when Colette was about 8 weeks old. We decided to take our photos outdoors, at Mellon Park, where I've shot over one hundred photo sessions. However, I did something I've never done before...

I decided before leaving my studio to grab my new lamb skin, and a black backdrop. Using filtered, natural light, I was able to capture some lovely photos of Colette against a plain, studio backdrop. It was a bright sunny day. Sunny days are always a challenge when shooting outdoors, contrary to what most people think. The quality of light is very important. I always look for 'bright shade' as all my clients will all tell you!

Babies at this age can't do a lot physically, however, their faces are amazing, as they can convey so many subtle expressions in just a few seconds! As a mother of 4, I truly value being able to capture a baby at such a young age. When she's 5, then 15, her parents will be able to look back on these photos, and see the same person! It's quite amazing!

Thanks Tina and Bob for the opportunity to get together and capture these images of your lovely baby, and new family! Hope that there are many more (photos and babies) to come!

~Enjoy!

PS To friends and family: these photos will be available on www.pictage.com under event name 'Baby Colette' by early August '07.
