March 15-16 142nd Anniversary Program:“War So Terrible” On Saturday and Sunday, costumed living historians will evoke the lives of the average North Carolina Civil War soldier through infantry and artillery demonstrations. Additionally, Saturday evening the Harper House will be lit by lanterns and open for tours. Reenactors will portray both surgeons and wounded soldiers in the home. ALL EVENTS AND DEMONSTRATIONS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE. Saturday 10 a.m.-4 p.m., 6:30-9 pm; Sunday 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
(The musical group is the "Huckleberry Brothers").

Mary, These photos are excellent. I am the founding member of the Huckleberry Brothers, but I was not able to be at Bentonville that weekend. You really captured the feeling of an encampment. One of my great-great-grandfathers was a lieutenant in the 66th NC Troops, who fought at Bentonville, so the place is special to me and my family. The battlefield is considered to be one of the most threatened of all, because of the urban sprawl from the growth from Raleigh and the Triangle area in general.
