Bluebird Fledgling

We had a nest box of baby bluebirds in our back yard. The mother died suddenly after the babies had gotten a fairly good size. The dad worked very hard to keep up with the feeding, etc. Today, they left the nest, and I was able to catch the last one leaving in pictures.

These are amazing pictures. I've tried for many years to get a pair to nest in our bluebird box. NO LUCK. They come and look, stay for a while and then leave. What a treat your pictures are for me. I will share them with my Kindergarten tomorrow.

"Mine" left yesterday evening or today. I am kind of worried everything is OK. They had been peeking out of the nest for a few days but seemed small to me. It rained very hard last night and they are just gone and I haven't seen the parents. Hope this is "normal and everything is OK>

"My" bluebirds all left today-- I'd peeked in yesterday and saw they'd fledged, but had no clue about their departure (hope they can keep warm this chilly May). Thanks for posting "your" birds' photos...so that's how fledged they are when they go!
