original colour image added back as a layer in at very low (sub 5%) opacity/colour blending and then new layers with sampled colours hand painted (Photoshop brush tool) on top.


(PS: do you know how hard it is to try make some thing "new" of Kinkakuji?... like Big Ben, the Eiffel Tower and the Sydney Opera House it is so iconic, so "over exposed", that I doubt one in a hundred people see the image (or even the real object when face to face with it) rather they just run a replay of their internal icon of the object over the top their real life "live view")
