I went to the San Jose, California, "Christmas In The Park" exhibit in the evening to try some night time photography and 2nd curtain sync flash. It was a fun evening and a good introduction to the techniques and I look forward to more practice! Some photos were with the tripod and self-timer; others were handheld. For several photos I handheld with a slow shutter speed and walked across the street. With a 2GB compact flash card there's lots of room to experiment.

As it got darker, the camera had trouble auto focusing and wouldn't take a photo so I switched to manual focus. I didn't always get it right. When it was very dark I couldn't see the settings on the LCD on the back of the camera; reminder: carry a small flashlight!
