Harley is our special Chihuahua. We got him when he was 5 years old from a animal pet rescue center. He is now approaching 11 years old. The previous owners did not understand Chihuahua's and almost killed him. He was severly beaten in the head to the point he had a cracked skull, had been choked until the support bones in his throat were broken for life, now he coughs anytime he has to take deep breaths, not cared for and was named Piranha by a vet because he (Harley) only knew to attack anyone who touched him. It took Linda and Me almost 3 months before we could reach down and pick him up without wearing oven mitts to keep from getting bitten. We learned about 5 years ago he has an enlarged heart condition due to his treatment early in life. Christmas 2007 we almost lost him and the emergency vet said we would be lucky to have him for 3 more months because his heart condition was so bad. Vetmedin came out about a month later and he has been on it ever since. We have to give him Vetmedin, Enalapril and Laysics twice per day to keep him going. You would never know anything was wrong if you saw him with us. He loves the outdoors and we got him a new buddy about 6 months ago. Gus is a Chihuahua Jack Russell mix... Gus has put new life into Harley and they play and argue like kids, they are our kids... Of course Harley is still the king and lets everyone, including Linda and I, know he is the king...
