Our favorite Lady passed away sometime between 11PM Sept. 7th and 8AM Sept. 8th. Linda saw her first this morning. She died trying to return to guard the door to the house. She made it within 3 feet of her sleeping spot. She slept in front of that door all her life and anyone who came had to answer to Lady. She would not bite but she would not let you enter without us saying it was ok.

She had been sick for the past month. Linda and I had already decided it was time for her to be put out of her misery. She was dying from cancer plus her old age. I was going to make the appointment to have her put to sleep on Monday. She didn't make it to Monday.

Linda and I had the very hard task of saying goodbye to our dear friend. I contact my 2 sons and told them. They were close to Lady growing up and it was better they did not see her this morning. She is resting on top of the mountain in the woods. She enjoyed roaming the woods and sometimes would be gone for a couple of days at a time over her years.

You came into our lives at 2 years old in 1994
Eric loved you and you loved Eric
You were Joe's best friend too
We brought you home from the shelter and you
Guarded our home without a single bite
You barked when visitors arrived
You escorted them to the front door
Everyone you met became your friend
Everyone that met you fell in love
You made us laugh, protected us when we walked
You met us when we came home
You let others care for you when we were gone
You would shake for a bisquit
Grab it in your mouth and run away with it
We all love you and will miss you
There will only be one Lady
Our Lady, Our friend, Our family member
You loved us like no human could
You loved us even when we misunderstood you
You provided a wagging tail everytime we came home
Until the last month when it could wag no more
You looked into our hearts with your big brown eyes
And rested your head in our lap when we sat outside
You always enjoyed the belly rubs and we will miss those
We know you are in no more pain
We know you are resting peacefully
You will be missed but never forgotten
You will always be our Lady
You will always be our Pet
We said goodbye to you in this morning sun
We know that you are once again having fun
