The John "Quietman Ruiz Gym" is in Medford in a shared space with Gold's Gym right on the Mystic Valley parkway. I went to a Saturday night exhibition event the gym held with novice and amature boxers. Except for the slow start (which caused me to leave before the event wrapped up) it was a very nice night. Boxing gyms were very common when I was young and the sport is misunderstood (less brutal and brutish than football or even hockey IMHO) and an avenue for young people to seek mental and physical fitness.
