The Other Dubai

You will see in other Dubai galleries (including mine) the fantastic sites of the modern marvel that is Dubai. A Disneyland full of the biggest, highest, most expensive and amazing architecturally challenging buildings you will see anywhere in the world. It is stunning and awe inspiring, but is it the REAL Dubai? To me the real Dubai borders the creek, with Deira on one side and Bur Dubai on the other. This is the trading heart of Dubai that can trace its history back more than 100 years, starting with the pearl fishing trade. Take a stroll along the banks of the creek and you will be captivated by the colour and bustle of the loading and unloading of ocean-going wooden dhows which still ply ancient trade routes to places as distant as India and East Africa, plus local trading partners like Iran.

The images you will find in this gallery are my interpretation of this older Dubai. These images are a sub-set of the ones you will find in my main Dubai gallery :

Please take a look at my main Dubai gallery and make your comparison, make your choice of which is the true and real Dubai.....
