Segesta theater.

view map

The theatre is dating to the 3rd century B.C. it follows the design of Greek amphitheatres.
The cavea is dug out of the slop of the hill, a hemicycle sixty-three meters in diameter.
There are twenty tiers of stone seats, subdivided into seven sectors.
The orchestra, where the choir was located, is eighteen meters in diameter and with extraordinary acoustics. The theatre could seat up to four thousand spectators and still today, in the long summer nights, rings with the ancient magic of Greek and Latin tragedies.

Le paysage qui l'entoure est tout aussi magnifique que le théatre lui-même.
