Once a very young rescued Newf-X pup, Picard has made it to a healthy one-year-old dog. He has been to basic training by 6 months and this helped socialize him, but nothing calms him. He has his own emotional schedule and responds best to a strong hand and much repettion; rather than treats, or bribe cajoling.
Recently he has begun to come forward for pats, play and small attention. Daily grooming, which has long been a chore with him, has recently become a his big pleasure. Still, he prefers to stay under the bookcase; rather than join in with the movement of the household.
Picard's death was April 20, 2018.
