Conowingo Dam
The Dam was built in 1926-28. From the right side of the picture are the 53 flood gates. On the left side is the power house and then the turbines. There is a swim out fish lift in the middle. The dam is used as a bridge for US Route 1 to cross the Susquehanna.
When the turbines are running birds gather to feed on the fish that are stirred up by the turbines.

Smith Bridge
Smith bridge was originally built in 1839. In 1962 it was burned down by vandals and was then replaced with a steel and wood uncovered bridge. In 2002 it was reconstructed to look like the original.

I was splitting logs for firewood and found several borers inside of them. I put the borers out by the bird feeders and the birds very quickly grabbed them.

Gray Squirrel
The squirrel on the left is different from most other squirrels. When he eats he uses his paws to grab a handful of seeds from the bowl and then he brings them up to his month. The other squirrels around here all put their head in the bowl to pick up the seeds in their mouth, and then use their hands to hold the seeds while eating.
