Cristoforo Colombo's tulip

Torino (Italy)

A bas-relief on the Prefecture wall…
Cristoforo Colombo.
He had never been in Torino, I think, even though we cannot exclude that.
Nevertheless someone decided to dedicate this tribute to him.
People started thinking that touching one of his fingers could bring good luck ( or maybe help them to discover an new continent…), traditions are so easily to settle.
So now one of Colombo’s fingers is shining golden, because of all the “caresses” of passers-by.
Actually it has already been substituted several times, because it was spoilt and worn out.
The strength of habits and the power of caresses…
