The small square of the "Ville Close"

Concarneau - Bretagne (France)

So we are inside the ancient wall now, in the main square of the “Ville Close”.

The blue fishing net on the façade of the charming little house reminds of a fair they celebrate here in summer “ Les Filets Bleus” which means exactly “ The Blue Fishing Nets” and it’s a kind of celebration of…sardine fishing and traditional cultural Breton background.

Just to give you an idea of its history: the sardine has long played a part in the story - which is already quite a long one – of Concarneau’s Filets Bleus.
The idea arose way back as a gesture of solidarity to support the fishermen who were suffering from the crisis affecting this famous fish.
Subsequently, Finistère’s little festival has grown continuously.

The clarity of light in this shaded area is so good that it makes the viewer forget it's in shadow. Lovely balancing of the many colours here.

Gorgeous. It is refreshing to see such vivid colours and also to see postcard for sale... always a love to browse these for that special location.
