The multicultural face of Le Panier

The multicultural face of "Le Panier"

Marseille (France)

*Note for my American virtual travel companion from Ardenvoir (Washington)

To the north of the Vieux Port (Old Port) is the oldest part of Marseille,
Le Panier, the old fishermenís district
with tiny streets, steep steps and houses of every era .
It was seriously damaged during the World War II,
but it has kept a part of its particular charm of Mediterranean village,
with the laundry hung out of the windows and many little shops.
Itís a real melting pot nowadays and people from different nationalities live there
mixing up their cultures and traditions.
