You have surely seen in many places street artist performing as “Living Statues”, so you know their main features is exactly to remain motionless like statues for a very long time, usually to surprise children, when they realize that it’s a matter of real people, not real statues.
This rather old gentleman had a different approach to his “performance”, actually he was quite unable to stay motionless for more than one minute.
It’s true he had not any competitor, since the only other street artist present in Avignon during our stay was the singer out of tune I showed you in the former picture, so our “Statue” could do whatever he liked.
It’s hard to convey the feeling of movement by photos, which according to the definition, freeze a moment of time, but I ask you to believe me.
The restless statue kept on chatting, smoking, getting up and down from his pedestal, changing position...
He looked very friendly and active and all in all he was pleasantly unusual.
