I deeply dislike zoos. As a child I felt embarrassed when I was taken there, embarrassed both for animals and visitors.

I’m not a fundamentalist animalist and I’m not a vegetarian either.

I like animals in their natural environment and in their dignity of animals, without any need to attribute human feelings to them.

Just to sum up, I might say that I hate equally zoos and pets wearing coats and rubber boots.

I have the greatest admiration for photographers who takes pictures of wild animals and are able to spend hours in uncomfortable conditions with their big telephoto lenses just to capture the sudden apparition of a fox, a wild boar or any other free animal.

I’m too lazy and too little skilled to try to do the same.
This is to explain why in this gallery you’ll find only photos of autochthons, that is animals which live freely in the area where I live, hopefully freely too....
