Planting Fields Arboretum State Historic Park
Oyster Bay, New York
Located on the North Shore of Long Island, this 409-acre estate was owned by William Robertson Coe and his wife Mai Huttleson Rogers. The estate, which is now a State Historic Park, includes the restored Tudor-Revival style mansion, known as Coe Hall, the beautiful landscaped grounds, greenhouses and other buildings. Originally, Coe Hall was a Queen Anne style house, but when that burned down to the ground in 1918 it was rebuilt in the Tudor-Revival style. Unfortunately, no photos are allowed to be taken inside the mansion. In a way that's good, as we would have needed a few more memory cards, not to mention a few more days, to photograph everything that we would have wanted to. :-)
As always, advice, feedback, suggestions and comments are all welcome. Or you could just sign our guestbook to let us know who you are or where you're from - it would be nice to "meet"you. And if you like an image, and feel it's worthy of a vote, please give it one. Thanks, and have a nice day!
