Stories of Her Life

Stories of Her Life

Iloilo, Philippines
April 2006

Rosalinda, mother of eleven, a cigarette vendor.
There’s a lot more to tell.
But I don’t want to state the obvious.

Just take a closer look and examine every line of her wrinkles.
The saying that “some pictures are worth a thousand words”
is an understatement in the case of Rosalinda.
Any picture of her is worth a thousand of stories
with a million words.

I discovered tonight your gallery, and this portrait... what could I say ? does a picture when it is one like this needs a comment ? I am touched, deeply, by each centimeter of the skin of this woman, by her hands, her eyes, everything, by her simply. Thank you so much for the feeling and the emotion.

I thinks thousand words about her or this picture is not enough. I am not the person to tell anything about this. The people who know much more about Photographing have choosen this picture that tells everything about this picture and your skills.

I've always loved this portrait. It is rich with her life. What strikes me as surprising and endearing are the rings on her fingers - they are beautiful and I sense a pride for them that comes from the portrait.. a bit of her we might not have gleaned from her face.
