A Parting Glass

I took this shot while waiting for my husband to come home from work last night, planning to write something about the wisdom or otherwise of 'meal deals'.
But less than a mile away, another husband and father was a work, protecting the people of this country. He didn't go home to his wife and young children. He was gunned down as he intercepted armed robbers at the local credit union.
A big man with a big heart, he is sadly missed by his family, friends, colleagues and the wider community.
We are saddened and numbed that evil has come to our community.
RIP Adrian.

Makes for a contrast between the very civil nature of the image, and the rather more savage (though in all probability unintended; few people are stupid enough not to foresee the consequences of killing a police officer) way in which the incident occurred. Raising a glass (metaphotically at least) is a fitting tribute in conjunction with your commentary.

How very sad to hear this, Mairéad. My condolences to all those who knew and loved Adrian.
