Anyone who spent holidays in Ireland or who had family
or friends who visited it during the 60s and 70s will be
familiar with the John Hinde range of postcards. The sun always
shone, the grass was emerald green and sky sapphire blue. The
landscape was populated by donkeys, sheep, goats and red-haired
freckled children. The company are now launching a range of
'Beautiful Ireland' postcards, no doubt in keeping with today's
tastes.
Having come across goats grazing along the shores of Carlingford
Lough yesterday as I drove past 'Mac Mansions' in search of old farm
gates, I decided to give this a touch of the enhancement treatment
found in the John Hinde postcards of old. I know the sea isn't
blue enough but it was a mostly overcast day and I don't have the
patience to artificially adjust it.
