Learning something new

I've learned something new today, thanks to photography and Pbase.
There's a little lane or pass opposite our house, which skirts around
our neighbours' farm and leads to some fields. I remember my father
referring to the area as 'Tullycanna', so even though there were no
houses there it is a townland with a name.
It's beautifully peaceful there on a warm summer's evening,
swallows swooping overhead (much too fast for me to snap),
sheep grazing in one field, cows in another. There are buttercups, clover,
and dog roses growing on the sides of the laneway. Spotted this butterfly fluttering on
a hawthorn bush. Didn't know what it was called but a quick
bit of googling revealed that it's a Speckled Wood, quite common
in Ireland and the UK. So, I learned something new today.
And thanks to everyone for their good wishes yesterday.

Nice arrangement; I like the way that the wings seem to be echoed by the leaves behind it. A good crop to keep the subject well defined too.
