Cookery books and all that jazz

I love cookery books, gardening books, photography books. I love
leafing through the pages, looking at the pictures and dreaming
that one day I'll be able to produce an end product like the
one I'm looking at.
I really enjoyed Nigel Slater's The Kitchen Diaries. I liked how he
prepared dishes from whatever ingredients he had to hand, and
while I don't think I followed any of the recipes, it gave me the
confidence to improvise and to substitute ingredients if
I didn't have everything specified in a recipe.

You have the knack of taking the simple things, putting them together and producing a masterpiece. And I'm sure you must do the same with food...
Aren't cookbooks grand! You can never have too many!

That is something I could never do - follow a recipe, let alone substitute ingredients!!

Lovely still life.

Very clever composition! The wooden table adds to the traditional kitchen feel as well.

A charming composition, old fashioned and nostalgic. I take the ingredients and not the measurements, much better that way. V

That is exactly the attitude I like to take with food.
Some cookery books have you running to the shops with long lists of ingredients.
The ones that inspire you to use what you have in your cupboards already are special indeed.

Great still life, the sort of thing I would like to paint........ If I could paint ;-)

I like the title - good association! I'm with you, I love wishing and imagining that I'm better than I am in the kitchen...and with a camera...and in the garden!! Nicely composed, and lovely lighting
