Wallpaper

This is probably the worst photo I've posted on Pbase and the only reason
I've done so is for the sake of completeness. I was feeling pretty terrible
when I got home from work yesterday, which was borne out when I had
the slightly warped satisfaction of discovering that I had a temperature of
100 degrees F. Before taking to my bed with a hot water bottle and a book,
I took this pic.
I had been planning it since stumbling across the 'I had my
schoolbooks covered in wallpaper group' on Facebook, although I was
planning something a bit more creative. The group struck a cord with me
as my books were covered in wallpaper when I went to primary school.
The one bearing wall paper from our sitting room circa late 1960s was
my first English reader, while I had progressed to brown paper by the
time I was studying Macbeth for my Leaving Certificate in 1979.
Clear plastic contact seems to be the covering of preference for schoolbooks
nowadays, while stationary has to embossed with football club logos, cartoon
characters and even Playboy bunnies.

This has brought me back to the times my mother would buy new wallpaper and the pieces left over we would back our books with it .Nice idea Margaret.

Mostly brown paper for me, but I have one little treasure that was different & I still have it...this shot has reminded me.
Hope your feeling better soon, Mairead!

There is such a nice feeling to this image, although for a lot of people memories of school days are not so pleasant. But this shot seems very comforting. I hope you're feeling better already!

It still looks good; the wooden background and subtle light reinforces the "days of yore" feel to it. But a temperature of 100 degrees... *C*??? I think not! (F maybe, but I'll make allowances for your fevered state. 8^> )

LOL, wallpaper? Luxury! Mine were covered in thick brown paper recycled from my older brothers' books from the years before, talk about hand-me-downs!! I wish I had some of my old school books and jotters from the '60s. Don't be too hard on yourself Mairead, this certainly isn't a bad shot, and I have to thank you for the memories :o)

You have brought back memories for me of doing just this. I remember the care taken to fold and cut and trim!!
