Chess is a game which requires intelligence, patience and cunning....which
is perhaps why I don't play it.
My husband taught our son to play it but unfortunately Playstation
proves a more attractive option for a teenager to fight his battles
so I had to dust down the board before taking this shot.
Somedays it's hard to get just one shot, never mind two, so this
is also my entry for the monthly challenge.

Intelligence? Or just a lot of experience. And who has time to get that?
Johnny JAG29-Apr-2010 18:40
LOL, I agree with the patience bit. Life is too short for chess!

It requires only two of the afore mentioned to play it ,the inteligence is what is required to win. Thats probably why I always loose. I like your set up here, nice work.

very nice picture! You are right, you have to be intelligent to be a good chess player (that is probably why I am not). Uschi (V)

My first thought was "Oh Oh Mairead is feeling checkmate today" and I'm not too far off :-)
Great image though!

Nice work with the focus on the castle! I have never had the time (after doing my photos) to learn to play properly, so it's just another thing I have let go ........

Nice selective focus lovely light. Not a speck of dust on the board (lol). V

If i were playing as white there i'd accidentally knock the board over and then claim a draw heh heh heh....chess is a game of tactics and as you so rightly say Mairead...cunning, hahhahahahahaaa.
Well done tho, it's a good choice of shot and a good story too.

What everyone else has said, but I'd add that the rook was a good "centering" choice with its simple but strong lines.
