I am not a Pink Floyd fan. That's not to say I don't like their music, it's just apart from one song (and yes, you've guessed it and yes, you will be seeing it), I don't really know their music.
But a quick look through their song titles left me with no doubt that I will be trying take part in this month's challenge, especially if I can find an image as quickly as this one.
Our neighbour is a sheep farmer so we are surrounded by sheep. In the lambing season we go to bed at night and arise in the morning to the sound of maaing and baaing.
I'm afraid I don't know what breed of sheep this ram is with his wonderful coiled horns. It's certainly different from the sheep which farmers traditionally kept around here but all the herds were wiped out during the foot and mouth outbreak in 2002. I still remember looking out our kitchen window as the sheep were led away...like lambs to the slaughter (sorry). I know it's their fate to end up on our plate but I always think sheep probably fare best of all animals destined for the meat trade as they lead a natural life without being subjected to intensive farming methods. When the new sheep arrived after the cull, the farmers complained that unlike the old flocks, they kept getting lost on the mountains and were difficult to herd.
