Historical re-enactment.

The great thing about living in the countryside is you are close to nature. I awaken to the sound
of songbird and go to sleep to the gentle baa-ing of sheep.
But sometimes nature gets too close. Like the time my son observed: 'there's something cute and
cuddly behind the flowerpot'. Given that the flowerpot was indoors and that 'cute and
cuddly' aren't adjectives I'd use to describe a rat, I did well not to scream. But I did run out
to my husband who was cutting the hedge, and who had accidently disturbed the rat, seeking
his assistance in removing the unwanted rodent from the house. That it was in our pre-Toffee
days ao we contemplated calling in a friend who owns a terrier, but settled for putting down a rat-trap
which fortunately worked.
I was reminded of this incident when I bought this toy rat on my trip to IKEA last week.

I infinitely prefer this version of a rat to the real thing!

The one in the picture really *is* cute and cuddly. Though Kevin also has a point...!

Ah... I had a selection of "fluffy things" brought in to my house in the countryside by my old cat... bats, moles, voles, rats...pheasants...!

Cute stuffed toy! LOL at the story and I'm very glad it wasn't me that found it because I would have gone ballistic if I found one in the house!

It's amazing what you can find at IKEA. And amazing what wants to share our houses with us when the weather turns cold. It's also fascinating what you can find in this gallery everyday. I love the variety!

I've heard that rats can actually make pretty good pets, although I don't know if I could ever get past my aversion to them. This one's pretty cute, though....

Hey, that´s my dog, Bonnies, favourite toy "Small Rat". We also have "Big Rat" (from the amusement park in Helsinki).
Many, many times I´ve stumbled over those darn rats in the dark and almost got an heartattack ´cause do they look REAL? LOL!

A very cute photo. A very sad story for the rat...
