Pressing In The Water Seal

As you can see I am using a socket that fits just inside the metal seal cap of the water seal. This worked very well for seating the water seal.

If the seal is just proud of the housing, on the impeller side, it will rub on the impeller, as the recess in the side of the impeller seems to be about the same size as the outside of the seal (24mm in my case). Does this matter, or is it even intended? If I press the seal in further, the spacer between the water and oil seals will not be free to rotate? Where is the right place?

Seems like you should be pressing on the outer part(like shown for the oil seal) of the seal as that is where the friction will be when seating into the pump housing - no?
