As a big fan of Bailey Zimmerman's own tantalizing visual mysteries, I can assure you that her praise for this image is high praise, indeed. And it is well deserved.

This photograph --so rich in its interplay of light and shadow, is probably the strongest and most though provoking in this gallery. I see it as a metaphor for the journey life itself. As this woman slowly climbs that long worn stairway, she steadies herself by touching her own shadow on the wall. A mysterious shadow awaits her at the top. Others may see this quite differently, but I see this woman gradually ascending towards the twilight of her life.
