Isn't that the truth about softening! I did crop this since there was a distraction to the right...but not too much at all. The 8080 is near it's highest stop...and you'll notice that the only really sharp focus point is along the edge of the two flower buds on the right...and this without a diopter. Always amazes me how little DOF there is when in close...even on a digicam never mind a DSLR and a macro lens. How correct you are.

You guys are looking good now, lets hope for some decent weather now. Nice, like the dof, amazing how things soften once we move in closer.
