A. L. Cool Was " Larger Than Life " and came to this area in 1890's and lived till he died in this cabin in 1941. Gordon Stuart was a " Green Horn " dreamer when he came to Dompke Lake in 1924. Old Man Cool was getting too old to run his trap line and told Gordon under is wing and taught him how to trap and bwe a mountain man. Cool was one of the best mounain climbers in the area in his day and even went to Alaska to try Mt. McKinley ( Now Denali) Cabin caught fire and that is how he died. Gorden lived at the Lake till his dead in 1985. Both men were local living legends...
