India 2005/2006 - Vuyiroli - Lighting up lives of the destitute

Vuyiroli is a small Christian organization committed to promote human worth and dignity for the uncared, sick, disabled, destitute and elderly persons found on the streets, by meeting their physical, emotional, spiritual and social needs.

The organization was founded in 1999 by Rajkumar, a Christian pastor with a deep passion for the poor, ederly destitute of Chennai, who still runs it....

Vuyiroli’s major activity is rescuing the dying and the elderly from the Streets. Firstly, first aid, washing and clothing needs of new arrivals are attended to. Then, the provision of good food, medical care, development of personal relationships for building self-esteem to revive their dignity and creation of a sense of being in the family fold are the on-going needs which are sought to be met.

Reminds me of a arabic prayer that I was taught when I was 5 years old. The rough meaning of the prayer is "Oh Lord, please shed your kindness on my parents as they did on me when I was young and helpless". One should consider onself fortunate to have parents and to be able to look after them when they grow old. Powerful pictures you have my friend. This gallery is voted.
