DELHI - Fear and sorrow

Delhi, India

A man sitting on stairs to Jama Masid mosque in Delhi.

It was not easy to me to point my camera at him....

Fear of the probing photographer's lens into the privacy of a destitute who cannot protest? To be disrobed by the cameraman and displayed publicly on the net to be discussed about by fellow photographers who will ooh and aah and move on to the next subject.?

Photographing humans is indeed a challenging job because where is the borderline on ethics? Food for thought indeed.

A stunning photograph.

As others have said, a powerful image. India is both my husband and my favourite place. We have been twice also, once when we travelled on the overland trip in the mid seventies and again in 1984 - a week after Indira Gandhi was assassinated - great timing! The Australian author, Richard Neville wrote of this magical country "India bestows on its travellers the gift of selective amnesia - they go back" and so you did.
Cheers

this portrait makes me sad, yet it makes me wonder how a man like this can co-exist within the same society as the other healthy men, women, and children portrayed in this gallery. it's something for all of us to think about.

Well... I can imagine it is not easy to portrait our own monstrosity. Really powerful shoot Dude. Looking at the eyes of what´s always invisible.
