Hong Kong. An incredible place, full of life, a city that never sleeps. It was my home for almost 4 years. I wish I could still be there. That's where I got my interest in photography, where I took my first photos.

I went to Hong Kong in September of 2004 because I had a business meeting there - not because I wanted to go. In fact, before I went, I had very little knowledge of Hong Kong at all and I had never even thought about going there before (even though I am of Chinese descent). I landed at the airport, and from the airport took the airport express train into town. The moment I exited the MTR station, I found myself in the middle of a Saturday night sea of people and neon lights of which I had never seen before in my life. I felt I had arrived in some kind of wonderland I could never have even imagined. I am glad that there are other people on the internet that feel the same way about this wonderful place.

Greetings from warm, sunny Dubai in the United Arab Emirates! I am an Indian living here with my family. We visited Hong Kong in AUg. 2002. The city fascinated us a great deal, and I keep peeking into our HK photos almost every other day. Your pics are simply fantastic. They have a real 'artsy' touch to them, and capture a slice of life, so to speak. Its that people that make all the difference, and you have effective captured them and their way of life. Only thing I note is, HK takes on a completely different shade at night. It almost becomes surreal, with a glitz of neon, and magical color. I find hardly any night photos in your gallery. You could probably fill an entire gallery with HK night views. Why don't you take some, and add them here? Be that as it may, this is a terrific document of HK life. Keep it up!

A very typical foreigner's perception of Hong Kong, oldies in traditionl costume, temple, Chinese Opera... Actually, HK still has many different aspects like Mixture of East and West, Colonial buildings, busy business world, etc. May be you just captured the things appealed to you!

Hi, As a Hong Kong citizen of ethnic Chinese, I can't help but find your recollection of our city leaning toward the generic "Gwai Low" (A local synonym for all people non-Chinese, predominantly used on Caucasians) side. We seldom see the Hong Kong you see through your lens... Talk to me and I will show you the Hong Kong I know. Of course, given the limited time and the overly biased selling of our very own Tourism Board has much to do with this effect... Can't blame you, just want to let you know there are yet many more angle of our city you would be interested to explore and have them captured on your films/digital storage devices... Cheers! Maciek -- you have a wonderful eye for the human side of a city. This is about as vital a gallery as I've yet seen on pbase. A foreigner's perspective. Amidst some very nice shots: old Chinese faces, traditional Chinese temple, souvenir for tourists... I like the one on butcher, more real to the average Hong Kong Chinese.

I am a Hong Kong citizen residing in Taiwan. I think your works have depth and capture the formly British colony's present conditions better than those of native Hong Kong photographers. In short, I am moved by the pictures. Would like to see more of your works more often.
