Doing 6218972

Saskatoon, SK

Treaty Day

At an event carried out across Canada each year since the very earliest days of the country's existence,
each native person receives a crisp new five-dollar bill from the Queen (as represented by an officer of the
Royal Canadian Mounted Police). Although the cash value of the treaty payment does not have much
purchasing power today, the ceremony is still regarded by most aboriginals as an important part of their heritage.
