Out--as the platitude goes--in the middle of nowhere lies Riverhill Cemetery, graced by the Riverhill Armillary. This memorial sundial honours the people of the region who developed the land. Based on a sundial design from the Renaissance Period, the armillary takes into account the latitude of the memorial. The gnomon (arrow) points to the North Star, which remains in a constant location in the sky. The shadow of the gnomon is cast on the numbers on the horizon ring, indicating real time.
