Uncle Charlie was wounded and posted as missing in action presumed killed in France.
We still have copies of the family correspondence about this and I shudder
each time I read it.

Fortunately it had a happy ending, he was still alive but captured by the Germans
and after a short time was part of an injured prisoner exchange. After the war,
he found his name on a local war memorial, but couldn't get it removed.
He lived until he was 97!!
