Boat Trips

What an epic 5 night adventure on that boat! We will never be able to explain the fear and excitement we felt. first 2 nights in Sag harbor Long Island (night 1 sat next to Alec Baldwin at a sushi place.) day 3 we motored to Stonington CT. It was an adventure to get there, I was so sea sick my head was spinning, on dramamine, pressure point bracelets, and all the ginger I could ever want, still nothing helped. We were both scared, the waves were 5 ft and the boat seemed to be all over the place, current pulling us one way through the long island sound waves crashing into us the other way. The boat handled it well, like a duck. We finally got into Dodson Boat yard and parked on a dock for the night $70 later... The next day was a bit nicer and we were able to put up both sails and get a few extra knots, we made it to Newport RI, parked among 50' yachts, we looked like we were in a dingy. We were able to get a dock and stayed for free at the Casey's Boatyard marina. Got up at 6am and headed off for the cape, we were able to fight massive waves and wind heading into Buzzards Bay and made it to Buzzards Bay before sundown. We stayed on a mooring near Larry's friend Jim Rolf's house which was basically on the edge of the Cape Cod Canal, we were tossed around quite a bit that night, but after taking some dramamine we were able to settle down and sleep. The next morning we got up and made it through the canal, we had to wait until 9am for the tide to change so we were able to make some tea and oatmeal and watch the windmill at mass maritime which was directly across the canal from where we stayed. about an hour later doing 8 knots we made it through the canal and kept the jib up coming out and into the wind, turned off the motor, we were going so fast and the wind was so hard that the windows on the side of the boat were in the water and we were up on the side. It was pretty intense and through cape cod bay we were soaked with salt water from some 7-8footers. Thank god for full rain gear. About 3pm Thursday we made it into Barnstable Harbor feeling completely satisfied/accomplished/and 100% burnt out. We would have slept for 4 days straight if it wasn't for the dogs and Friday nights La Boheme. Anyway that about sums it up in a quick run-on paragraph. Now all we want to do is get back on the boat, we both feel a little stir crazy not having to pull down the jib or come about....
ps. there is a real log of our trip this is just a brief synopsis.
