After the Civil War, there was a need for beef in the eastern states, and millions of head of cattle were driven from Texas through Indian Territory to the railheads.
Nowadays, we like to celebrate our Texas heritage. Each year, more than 3,000 riders saddle up and ride to Houston from all directions, including Louisiana and Mexico.
The 12 trails come from all directions, including Mexico and Louisiana, to converge on Houston.
