Of all the beautiful, colorful parks we visited in southern Utah, Grand Staircase Escalante was my favorite.
It's so vast that we were only able to visit the very western edges in two days.
If you visit, I suggest you drive a high clearance, all wheel drive car/suv. Most of the roads are dirt, somewhat maintained, but now and then you have to drive across a small creek or ravine.
Hiking in the Grand Staircase-Escalante area gives a rugged and remote desert experience.
And there are an abundance of interesting sites/sights throughout.
Speckled with ghost towns, movie-sets, petroglyphs, fossils, slot canyons and colorful cliffs... there is a lot to see!
