My Dad's East Broad Top Railroad Photos

My old dad was a big railfan. He'd been into photography since the 50's, but later made the transition to digital.
These shots are from his first digital camera "road trip".
East Broad Top Railroad is in Orbisonia Pennsylvania. It was established in 1856 and is the last original narrow guage railroad east
of the Rockies. It became a National Historic Landmark in 1964, but has fallen upon hard times with the economy.

Great captures. Your gallery made me look up Orbisonia, PA as a possible place to visit. My maternal grandfather was a steam locomotive engineer in north-central Pennsylvania (primarily the Buffalo & Susquehanna RR) in the first part of the last century. He was the last engineer to take a train through the B&O switchback near Galton, PA (has your father ever heard of it?). My father was also a railroader for a time in his life. He worked for the Pennsylvania RR in the late 20's as a brakeman on trains running ore cars between Cleveland and Pittsburgh. Did you or your father ever get to Steamtown National Historic Site in Scranton http://www.pbase.com/jimrob/image/47109266

LOVE IT!!! Brings back some childhood memories for me. In fact, I checked this place on the Internet and have bookmarked it. I plan to go there later this year to tour and do my own photoshoot. Just a wonderful collection of pictures and memories.

You have some great galleries but this one caught my eye - my Dad was a driver for British Railways both steam and diesel. He would have been 99 years old in three days time and these photographs would have thrilled him. Your Dad is a natural! Thanks for your recent visit! Regards, Chris
