Dec 12, 2010 Port Stanley, Falkland Islands

This was a very exciting day, one of the places I have wanted to visit for a long time is the Falkland Islands. Even though it was summer here, the temperature was only about 1 degree above C. The tender onto the island went smooth, and the trek to get to the rockhoppers was not as bumpy as I had thought! The rockhopper penguins are just too cute, they weer adorable! I didn't want to leave them! We wandered a bit around the stores at the dock, and had fish & chips at the local pub. We timed it so that we would get the last tender back, but alas, there was a line up - it was far to choppy to run the tenders! We waited for a few hours, all the while being told tales of cruise ships being stranded for days on this tiny island! But, we made it, it took a few hours, but eventually theyu did get everyone back on boards and we set off. The seas really were rough!

But, yep, it was very choppy! We waited for an hour and finally boarded at 5:00, an hour after we should have left.
