I left work in the mid-afternoon and decided to go for a walk around town for a while. After wandering up to Nossa Senhora da Monte, and watching a film crew filming something or other, I headed down through Graça towards the castle. I passed through an old patio that was used as a location in Wim Wenders' Lisbon Story and continued to take the obligatory photograph of the street urinal outside the castle. From there it was down to Largo das Portas do Sol and onto the #12 tram to Praça Figueira. Walking past Rossio, I heard people singing Fields of Athenry, and looked across onto the square to see about 400 Liverpool fans trying to drink as much beer as they could before it ran out or before they had to go the Champions League game - whichever came first. I had forgotten that Liverpool were in town today to play Benfica, and it reminded me that I had planned to meet up with Alex to watch it in some restaurant - he supporting Benfica, me supporting Liverpool. In the end, we had take-away pizza and watched the game on telly at home.
