The promise of a day of sunshine that the early morning blue skies offered proved to be nothing more than mere wishful thinking. Ten minutes after looking out the window and seeing a glimpse of the sun behind some soft white clouds and the skies had greyed over and the hail had begun to fall. Strange weather we are having here on the western extremes of the Iberian peninsula - a few weeks back there was snow in Évora, which is an event practically unheard of. Anyway, back to Lisbon and its foul weather. We were not going to let a little bit of hail spoil our day and force us to remain indoors. In any event, I had to get my mobile phone reactivated, so I had to get to a Vodaphone shop post haste. We braved the weather all the way from the front door of the house to the front doors of the car, and from there, safely ensconsed in our air conditioned comfort, we made our way through the pouring rain to the underground car park of the wholly covered Amoreiras shopping centre, where I was able to do the necessary on the communications front. A short drive up to Estrela, and off we went on our walk through the city, in the rain. When we got back to the flat, I found out that Celtic had just won 8-1 - so I watched the goals on the internet (check here if you want to see them - I recommend Maloney's), then had a glass of port to celebrate!
