ATSF-Eisenhower-Special.jpg

I caught this train returning from General/President Eisenhower's home in Kansas. I can't recall the town. The Steam Engine is named after the General. It is from the Green Bay RR museum and was loaned for this special occasion. The flat car before the locomotive has a large placard advertising "DuPont Paint" I assume the exhibition train was painted with their paint. The train had a passenger coach and a Santa Fe caboose with military personal aboard. The train was a surprise as I was rail fanning all day and was about to leave when a signal went from red to yellow to green rapidly, so I thankfully stuck around.

It was shot in Willow Springs, IL. where the huge UPS facility now stands. The road behind was at grade level and the track is now rerouted and elevated. I believe the road is Willow Springs road.
